Calendar of Coming Dances (3rd Saturdays):

The doors open at 6:30PM and the dance will start at 7:00 with easy family dances for all ages. From 8 PM until 10:00 PM the dance switches to contras, squares and other dances with added instruction for the big kids. This dance is open to the public, and children are welcome. No costume, partner or experience is necessary. Comfortable clothing and shoes are recommended (see shoe policy below). The cost is $5 per person or $15 per family.

Music is often provided by our all-volunteer band, The Hoosier Recruits. Current members include Peter Martin (hammered dulcimer and flutes), Dot Pakan (accordion), John White, Suzanne Keldsen and Julietta Raby (our “fiddlers three”), Hilda Demuth-Lutze (keyboard), Mark Lutze (bass), Glen Nallenweg (guitar), Marti Pizzini (guitar and a variety of other traditional instruments), and Laurie Eberhardt (keyboard or fiddle).

The new Valpo YMCA is located at
1201 Cumberland Crossing Dr.,
at the far north end of the Kmart shopping center
on the corner of Calumet and Vale Park Rd
in Valparaiso, Indiana.

Shoe Policy:

Please help us protect the floor by carrying in clean-soled, non-scuffing shoes to dance with.

Directions to the Dance:

From the North (I-94 or the Indiana Toll Road): Exit on Rt. 49 and travel south to the Vale Park Rd. Turn right (west) and go to the 5-way stoplight at Calumet Avenue. Turn right (back north) on Calumet. Just past the K-Mart and just before the Dairy Queen, turn left onto Cumberland Crossing Drive. Then take a right into the YMCA parking lot.

From the East (Rt. 30): Go west on U.S. 30 to the Hwy 49 Bypass and exit north. The next stoplight is Vale Park Road. Turn left (west) and go to the 5-way stoplight at Calumet Avenue. Turn right (back north) on Calumet. Just past the K-Mart and just before the Dairy Queen, turn left onto Cumberland Crossing Drive. Then take a right into the YMCA parking lot.

From the West: (I-65 to Rt. 30): Take the U.S. 30 exit from I-65 if necessary, then travel east on U.S. 30, past the Valparaiso University chapel and Wal-mart to the Hwy 49 Bypass and exit north from the left lane. The first stoplight is Vale Park Road. Turn left(west) and go to the 5-way stoplight at Calumet Avenue. Turn right (back north) on Calumet. Just past the K-Mart and just before the Dairy Queen, turn left onto Cumberland Crossing Drive. Then take a right into the YMCA parking lot.
